Why Do Interviewers Struggle to Choose One Candidate?
Most Answers Sound the Same
• Everyone says “hardworking” and “team player”
• Similar qualifications and projects
• No clear difference between candidates
• Interviewer looks for something memorable
Don’t say what everyone says, show what others don’t.
Shift from ‘Me’ to ‘Their Need’
• Understand what the company really wants
• Speak in terms of their problems
• Show how you can help, not just what you know
• Be specific, not general
Example:
“My role was only coding, but when we had last-minute issues, I also helped in testing and fixing bugs. I don’t limit myself only to assigned tasks if the team needs support.”
How Do You Make Yourself the Obvious Choice?
Common Positioning Mistakes
• Talking only about yourself, not the role
• Giving generic answers like everyone else
• Not showing proof of your skills
• Sounding unsure or not confident
Example:
Instead of: “I pay attention to detail”
Say:
“I tested my code with different inputs to make sure there were no errors before submission.”
